[Facts] Re: NAME DISPUTE! HELP PROVE PRONUNCIATION AND MEANING
in reply to a message by Melina
Thanks. Its funny because thats what I said to her at the end of the day. I guess the lady is always right. Anyway the dispute was just a joking matter but I wondered if there was an actual pronunciation by english language standards, if there were such a thing. And we had a funny bet to see who can prove who wrong.
As for the meaning I thought there would be. In the words of Daneisha, your saying "It's a ghetto name". But she's not a "ghetto girl". Thank you Mina or Melina, whichver you like, I appreciate your time and response

Different intention
There are a lot of requests for the meaning of modern African-American names. Probably there are plenty of ignorant people that would tell your friend that she has a 'ghetto name', but here at Behind the Name we try to be a little more enlightened. Frankly while there are no etymologic meanings for many names like Daneisha, at least such names are the hallmark of loving parents or relatives put care, thought and creativity into creating unusual or unique

i just want to know the meaning of my name
Just in case there's confusion, I said nothing about whether African-American created names are inferior or anything. I actually like the fact that they are flourishing and supporting their culture. Culture is a hallmark of civilization. Many if not most are very meoldic and euphonious, and certainly they are memorable and unique, 2 very important things to me regarding names.
