I say Trey, because I'm just not that fond of Tristan anymore.

Definitely Tristan. I'm accustomed to seeing Trey used as the nick for a III. On top of that, it just seems silly and contrived to me.

Tristan. Trey is in vogue now, but it doesn't have the lasting power that Tristan does.

I have to say Tristan. It's one of my favorite masculine names. When I hear Trey, I think of a tray.
