Message: "Rachyl??" - Behind the Name

I just found out this is a name, and I don't like it. It's true that Rachel is a very common name, but since Rachyl is pronounced the same, it wouldn't really solve the problem of there being so many Rachels. Plus nobody would ever spell it correctly. I don't really like "Rachael" but at least the spelling makes sense. What do you think?

I know a litle girl named Rachyl, I think it ruins the name, honestly. What makes it worse is that Rachyl's little brother is named Mycah.

Yeah just....yuck. My opinion is if you want a different name then CHOOSE a different name. Don't pick a common name and get all kre8tive with it.

Yes, I agree with you that nobody would ever spell it right, and it is totally a cop-out on "originality" in a sea of Rachels. I still think Raquel or Rahel work as good "almost-Rachel-but-not-really" choices.

I agree. And plus, it just looks weird. But Rachael doesn't make sense either- it looks like Ra-cha-el (like Rafael only with a ch) or Ra-chayl.

I agree it doesnt make sense, I think its a Biblical thing.

Since my name is Rachael, I can't put someone down for spelling it a different way. People tell me my name is spelled "incorrectly" all the time, and it drives me nuts.

Really? I love that spelling

Plus I always thought of it as more correct, like Nathanael or Rebekah (though I do like Nathaniel. I don't like Rachel or Rebecca much).

Rachyl looks ugly to me. Why not use something like Rachelle or Raquel? They're pronounced slightly different as well.

Thank you for liking Rachael instead of Rachel! It's rare when I meet someone who prefers that spelling. And a lot of people mispronounce it; once, a customer read my name tag and called me "Raw-shy-ELLE." I didn't know what to say.

Yeah I prefer Rachael and Rebekah too. I think it looks better. I dont think of them as more correct or less correct though.
