[Facts] A couple questions
1. What are considered "old people" names in Russia? Is Svyatoslav one of them?2. Is Svyatosha the only diminutive of Svyatoslav based on the first root (not the SLAV)? If not what are some other ones? Is Svatoshenka a legit one?3. Why is Demetrius so popular in Alabama and nowhere else?-------------------------------------------------------

Where did you get the idea that Demetrius is "popular" only in Alabama? As far as I know Demetrius has been fairly common among African-Americans all across the USA. On statewide lists it probably would rise higher in Alabama than in many other states just because the percentage of babies born in Alabama who are African-American is higher than in most other states.

I saw it on this website...Despite the fact that I don't like your tone asking me where I got this idea, I'll tell you where I got that idea.I think it's called Name Voyager or something like that, and it has a feature that lets you see how popular names are in different states. Demetrius only cracked the top 100 (or something like that) in Alabama.

Thank you.
I think you were reading a "tone" into my question that wasn't there. :)It would be interesting to know what data they are using. I checked the Alabama state top 100 lists on the SSA website back through 1990, and Demetrius was not among the top 100 names in Alabama in any of the last 18 years.

I don't know if it says or not, but there's a link to it on the Namenerds site. It's something like Name Voyager, and it has this Name Mapper feature where you can see where names are popular. It said that Demetrius was popular in Alabama, but they might not be using the SSA's data. Maybe it says on the website?P.S. I'm sorry for the comment I made about your tone. Tones are hard to judge over the Internet when we're not talking face-to-face.
