[Opinions] Re: Some spelling/pronunciation questions...
in reply to a message by Lily8
Question: Is KATE-lyn supposed to be pronounced as KAT-e-lin or as KAYT-lin with this key http://www.behindthename.com/pronunciation.php ?I would assume KAY-lee to be spelled Kayley but I would prefer the spellings Kalee or Cailey.I would assume KAT-e-lin to be spelled Kattalin and KAYT-lin to be spelled either Caitlin or Katelyn. At the same time those are my favorite spellings.I would assume HAY-lee to be spelled Hailey (on a girl) and that is my favorite spelling.I would assume KAY-lin to be spelled either Cailin or Kaylyn. I slightly prefer Cailin but I'm not a fan of the name in general.Cateline: kaht-LEENYes, I think it's wrong to pronounce Caitlin or Caitlín as KAT-e-lin. I'd pronounce Caitlin as KAYT-lin and Caitlín as KAHT-leen.I think Cateline is ok.HAY-lee: Ok. Trendy but not trashy.KAT-e-lin: I would always wonder whether that is Katelyn mispronounced. Katelyn (prn. KAYT-lin) would be ok, btw.KAY-lee and KAY-lin: A little trashy, I suppose.I do not know any people with any of the names above because I do not live in an English speaking country.

No, I mean KATE-lyn, not KAT-e-lin. KATE-lyn as in Kate + Lynn = KATE-lynn. I didn't use the pronunciation key. You could also say KAYT-lyn, I guess, it sounds the same.

Oh, ok. You can just take my answers for KAYT-lin then, as that equals the Kate + Lynn pronunciation. Since I wasn't sure, I answered all those questions for both pronunciations :)
