You can't pronounce things in ways they aren't meant to be pronounced. It's incorrect and confusing.When I was a kid I liked the name Emil, but I thought it was pronounced EM-əl, like Emily without the ee. Later I found out it was e-MEEL, and I don't like it. So I keep the incorrectly pronounced version to myself as a GP.

ButThe "wrong" pronunciation of Emil is the correct one in Sweden, so in this case it definitely depends on where you live. It's not an incorrect version, just not the English one.

Well, it's more or less the right pronounciation of Emil in German :-)
