[Opinions] Jane?

Three words come to mind- simple, plain and pretty.
I love this name--a classic! I prefer it spelled Jayne however
I also love it and find it to be a very sweet, classic and beautiful simple name. I've been thinking about this name a lot lately and have thought that if I had two DD's one day, that the second could be a Jane.
Paired with certain names it can be really pretty, but mostly I just think it's very boring. It's not a name I'd ever use.
It's not that I dislike it, it's just that it's too generic for me. I don't feel that it has any personality. It was way too common for centuries. When a name has become so common that it becomes a synonym for "girl", which is what happened to Jane at one point, how can it have a personality?
love love love love love nt
I like it well enough, though I prefer Janey/Janie.
Its not for me, but I appreciate it on other people. Its strong and classic, which is nice.

It's one of those names that is simple but not boring. I think it's quite pretty sounding. Plus it hasn't been really popular since the early 60s (in the US) but is not an unknown name for anyone of any age. No pronunciation or spelling problems for a Jane. :)
Love it.
Like it!
LOTS. I've never met a Jane, but I think it has great "hipster" appeal and I think it will come roaring up the charts again soon.
It has a sweet simplicity to it, but also a feistiness. I can easily picture a facially-pierced and frighteningly intelligent Jane working at some kind of beatnik bookstore-coffee shop. I actually think Jane is one of the most "brainy" names to me - right up there with Margaret, Eleanor and Matilda.
It also suits a wide variety of middle names, which is very convenient!

I often go by Jane and you got me spot-on, except...
I don't even have one piercing.
Yep Margaret also is a very brainy name...I know a Margaret who was accepted into some sort of really exclusive science and technical academy...she ended up turning it down, partially because she didn't want to spend whole days away from her friends.
