[Opinions] Forsythia
Do you think that Forsythia works as a name? Or is it too much? I used to like this name when I was a child.

I love the plant but the name is hard to say A and B it sounds a little like a disease or an STD just my opinion.

It is way too much. I'd never use it anyway.

I think it is quite unusual - not "too much" but certainly an eye-catcher. I never realized it was a flower. I immediately associated it with the surname Forsyth - specifically with the novels of the Forsyte family. Which is pretty cool. The only thing that gives me pause is what nicknames could be used (I come from a nicknamey family, so I always think of that!) - maybe Thia? My family never ever uses the last part of a name for a nickname though, so it might be unfortunately shortened to something like "Forsy".... which is far too lumpy to compliment the whole of Forsythia.I like it though - it has that embellished lace-encrusted feel I sometimes like so well!

It's a pretty plant (I have some in my garden!), but for me it might be too much as a name. Having said that, people use Fuchsia as a name, so there's no reason why you shouldn't use it if you like it.

I know Forsythe is a word or something. I googled it and is seems to be a surname. I agree with ChopSocky that it gives off a sci-fi vibe and would be really over the top to use in real life. It also makes me think of the word "forthwith," which kind of makes me laugh.

I guess it's a flower name. It's not in this site's database, however, so apparently it doesn't really have a history as a name, such as Rose and Lily do. I think that as a child I liked the flower, and tended to like flower names, so I decided that Forsythia was a name.

I think it's too much. I can't imagine actually meeting someone named Forsythia, unless I was at a sci-fi/comicon convention, or something.
