[Opinions] Amalburga
What do you think of the name Amalburga? I recently came across it and was charmed by it, especially because of the amal- part (of which I'm partial).Opinions and combo suggestions? Thanks.

The ending sounds like "burger." Sorry, but I think it's too dramatic, and not very practical. If it were my name, I'd probably change it.

The -burga part turns me off. I prefer plain old Amalia.

Yay! It's time for great, obscure, medieval names! I'm a little taken aboack by Amalburga. I love Walburga and Cyneburga. Somehow the "Amal-" part is a little too pretty. I love other "Amal" names like Amalswinth and Amalthea, so I'm not sure what's bugging me. But because she hasn't seen the light of the day in centuries, and isn't likely to see it again for some time, I'm prepared to be swept off my feet by her and issue a hearty thumbs up. The challenge of coming up with combos alone is worth the endorsement. :-)Amalburga Edith

Sadly, I don't think the -burga ending works too well in English. I always quite liked Walburga (an English saint), but I'd never use it.

Amalburga- Nice, strong Germanic nameThe "amal" part makes the name quite a bit prettier than Walburga or Cyneburga (as cool names they are). She can always go by Amy, Ama (pr. Ah-ma), Allie, or Amalia. Mable would be another possibility.I wouldn't mind seeing a little Amalburga!

I dislike the -bur part, it reminds me of burp and burger. I prefer Amalberga, but either way I can't say it's one of my favourite names.

It's a cool name, but I can't imagine it on a real person, it sounds more like the name of a Harry Potter character. However I like the "amal" sound too, that's why I love Amalia.

I can't get past the "burg" sound. My mind immediately goes to the word burger and that completely ruins the name for me. I don't have to have perfect associations with names to like them, but burger is just not something I want to think when I see a name. :)
