I hope you can help me a bit, I need your opinion on a name. Also I need some advice from those of you who have some knowledge of the Greek language.
First of all: What do you think of Astraea?
I fell in love with it because of its meaning and sound. I also love Adastreia and thought Astraea could be a less complicated alternative.
I pronounce it ahs-TRAY-ah, but apparently ahs-TREE-ah and ahs-TRY-ah are correct as well as the ae can be pronounced several ways.
The thing is: I asked some people in my country how they would pronounce it, and they ALL said ahs-trah-AY-ah which is incorrect (the ae is definitely one syllable, not two), so I thought of something.
I thought of changing the spelling to Astreia (inspired by Adastreia). This would be easier to pronounce and the pronunciation would be clearer.
I thought it would be alright to change the spelling in this case, because:
a) the Greeks have a different alphabet anyway and names get translated by sound. So while Astraea is the translation that has been used the longest, Astreia could work as well.
b) it seems to be the legit Spanish spelling as well, at least according to wikipedia Astraea (the name of the goddess) is spelled Astreia in Spanish which supports the theory that Greek names get translated by sound and that there are different ways to spell a Greek name with our alphabet.
Any opinions?
Would you use Astreia if it solves the pronunciation issue or just use Astraea because it has been used the longest and just explain to everyone how to pronounce it? Does Astreia look weird or misspelled to you?

Astraea actually makes the most phonetic sense for me, but I do have the middle name Mae so I might be a bit biased. Astraea has an aesthetic to it that Astreia just does not. I really think it is a beautiful name. Also, explaining pronunciation isn't too bad of a deal, I get CaroLYN all the time even though I pronounce my name CaroLINE so I am used to correcting.

I love Astraea, even if I'm not sure of its pronunciation. I pronounce it uhs-TRAY-uh. I dislike the spelling Astreia, it takes away the name's beauty (there's actually another reason, albeit a much sillier one: Astreia reminds me of "a estreia", which means "the premiere" in my language). I'd use Astraea, even if I had to explain the pronunciation a thousand times.

Astraea is also spelled as Astraia on its behindthename paige so I wonder if I should rather use Astraia insted of Astreia or if I should stick with Astraea.
Then I made a mistake, it's Adrasteia not Adastreia, sorry when I wrote my post I got it mixed up with Astraea so the r ended up in the wrong place.
