[Opinions] Tom Brady & Gisele baby named... and 2009's best & worst celeb baby names article.
They named the little guy Benjamin. Benjamin Brady is nice.Best & Worst of celeb baby names article:"The celebrity name game year got off to an exciting start with the birth of Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's second daughter, whose name remained a mystery for more than a week.
When it was finally announced, it was so surprising and lovely that it made the long wait worthwhile: Seraphina Rose Elizabeth, a shoo-in for one of the best celebrity baby names of the year.
Our other nominees for best celebrity baby girl name:
Mabel Painter: Chad Lowe's little girl's name is a charming, quirky vintage choice, with an original artistic middle name from the hot occupational genre.
Helena Grace: The classic Helena is a name just emerging from the attic, chosen by Gossip Girl's Kelly Rutherford. Its originality makes up for the lovely yet somewhat standard-issue Grace in the middle place.
Paloma Louise: Ana Ortiz chose this exotic-yet-familiar name for her daughter, with the original Louise, tres chic in Paris, in the middle.
Phoebe Margaret: Phoebe is a mythological and biblical name that's newly finding favour, chosen for her newborn daughter by Julianne Nicholson.
For boys nominees for best name are:
Walker Nathaniel: Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs chose this occupational surname name with the Biblical Nathaniel in the middle.
Jasper Warren: The gently old-fashioned Jasper is the choice of actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley and country singer Brad Paisley; Warren in the middle is another long-ignored choice due for revival.
Otis Tobias: The bluesy Otis is an offbeat choice of Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer, whose older child has the equally distinctive name of Ruby Sweetheart.
Beckett Edward: Nicole Sullivan chose the surname-first Beckett, a new celebrity favourite, for her son, with Twilight hottie Edward in middle place.
Blaise Ray: Blaise is the fiery old saint's name revived by Amanda Beard for her son, with jazz favourite Ray in the middle.

And as for the worst?
The nominees are, for girls:
Bandit Lee: Gerard Way's new daughter has a name fit for a criminal, though boy names like Ryker and Gunner are on the rise.
Anniston Kae: Chyler Leigh gave her daughter colleague Jennifer's last name, though Jolie is higher on the popularity list.
Mars Merkaba: Erykah Badu tweeted her labour and initially claimed she named her baby Twitty Milk. The real name, Mars Merkaba, sounded almost great after that. Almost.
For boys, we're sorry to say it was much harder to whittle the worst list down to just three. But our final nominees are:
Kaydnz Koda: TPain's son's name takes yooneek spellings to new lowz.
Ikhyd Edgar Arular: M.I.A. rocked her son's name, but won't the kids call him Ikky?
Sparrow James Midnight: Love or hate Nicole Richie and Joel Madden's newborn son's name? Some see it as charming and original, others as the name of a drab little bird."

+ a new celeb BAActress Leelee Sobieski gave birth to a daughter Louisanna Ray on Dec. 17. I think Louisanna is interesting, but I find it difficult to not say "Louisiana," and I suspect she'll get called that a lot during her life. I like Tom and Giselle's choice of Benjamin. They had mentioned that they were going to use a classic name, and I think it goes nicely with his brother's name.As for the best and worst, Seraphina Rose Elizabeth is pretty, but a bit much for me. I'm kind of liking Beckett Edward. I don't think I'd ever use Beckett, but it's kind cool, especially with NN Beck. Phoebe Margaret and Helena Grace are lovely. Otis Tobias is fun and a bit daring without being stupid (PS, watch this video about how Tobey Maguire played a little joke on his wife regarding the naming of Otis: http://celebrity-babies.com/2009/12/07/tobey-maguires-joke-is-jennifers-naming-nightmare/). I love Blaise, but Ray waters it down for me.As for the worst, yeah those are all bad. The only one that's ok to me is Sparrow James Midnight. Definitely not my style, but kinda cool.

Best names:
Mabel - Nice name for an English speaking people
Helena Grace - Nice combo. Helena is beautiful and classic name. Grace, too.
Paloma Louise - Not my style. Louisa is pretty.
Phoebe Margaret - Phoebe is nice. Margaret is classic but I more prefer Margot, Marketa or Margit.
Walker Nathaniel - Not my style. Walker is surname. Nathaniel isn't good, better is Nathanael.
Jasper Warren - Jasper is nice. Warren is also surname.
Otis Tobias - Otis is name for African-American, right?! Tobias is beautiful.
Beckett Edward - Beckett is surname. Edward is nice but I prefer Eduard.
Blaise Ray - Not my style.Worst names:
Bandit Lee - Terrible!! Lee is good, yet. Ryker and Gunner :-DDDD
Anniston Kae, Mars Merkaba, Twitty Milk, Kaydnz Koda, Ikhyd Edgar Arular, Sparrow James Midnight, Heavenly Joy, Atlas, Petal Blossom Rainbow, Gunner - TERRIBLE!!! :-DDDD

I don't know what you mean by "Otis is name for African American, right?!"There was a famous soul singer who was African American named Otis Redding.BTN's database says that the name was often given in honor of Revolutionary War politician James Otis.

I like Sparrow on a girl more myself, and I think Atlas is a cool name :( Benjamin Brady is nice and classic... I'm sure he'll be just as classically handsome as his name, with parents that look like that! Seraphina is such a pretty name, but I still think it isn't cohesive with Violet AT ALL.

Oh, Boy!I like Benjamin and good work on finding a name that works in English and Portuguese.
Now, on to the rest (and debunking stupid comments in the article):Seraphina Rose Elizabeth -I like all the names, but would have preferred either Seraphina Rose or Seraphina ElizabethMabel Painter -Mabel is an old British scullery maid to me. And that comment about Painter is beyond stupid since her mother is Kim Painter and therefore the name is her mother's last name (something any serious writer would know and mention)Helena Grace -I like it, but since when has Helena been in the attic? That comment would have fit Mabel better, imo. Paloma Louise -great name. Paloma would hardly be exotic to Ana Ortiz since she's Latina and Paloma is a word name in Spanish and not rare at all. And since when is Louise original instead of classic?Phoebe Margaret -not a fan of the name. Phoebe has been popular for ages and hardly considered new.Walker Nathaniel -I hate Walker (Texas Ranger anyone?) but love NathanielJasper Warren -dislike both names Otis Tobias -hate the same ending and don't like either name

Phoebe hasn't been popular for ages in the US. It's #348 here.

People are madOh, Paloma Louise and Phoebe Margaret are nice. I have a thing for P names these days. I like Mabel Painter too, maybe is it the P again.
Blaise Ray = very classy. My favourite worst:
Bandit Lee... Really if they wanted to give their daughter a bad girl name, they could have chosen something like Bonnie. Because now if she turns out un undisciplined brat, they will have asked for it!Sparrow James Midnight: not bad, in a new-agey way, but I find it a little random. A bird, an hour... James? I hope he succeeds in piracy, because if he wants to be a lawyer, that's going to be a little more difficult.Petal Blossom Rainbow Oliver: awesome, makes me think of My Pretty Pony.Gunner Flower: yeah, Flowers was definitly too hippy.

They've really nailed which ones are best and worst.I like...
Seraphina Rose Elizabeth - certain lists have listed it horrible, but Seraphina is so pretty! And the middle names are classic.
Mabel Painter - Mabel is due for a comeback. Painter makes a good name, but I'm glad it was only a middle name.
Helena Grace - Grace has become too common, so it's nice to see dark and mysterious Helena at the front.
Phoebe Margaret - hmm...both Greek derived names...me likey.
Jasper Warren - don't like Warren, but Jasper is just so sweet.
Blaise Ray - again, don't like Ray, but I really like how Blaise is a saint's name plus a Harry Potter name. Plus I hate the spelling Blaze.
I don't even want to talk about the list of worst names.
And as for Tom and Gisele's kid? Benjamin's a nice name.

Helena is just emerging from the attic? I don't think so.
with Twilight hottie Edward in middle place. MM lets just toss a Twilight reference in to the article for good measure. Ten bucks says Nicole Sullivan wasn't thinking of the Cullens when she picked this classic. ...Who wrote this article? Was it Pam and Linda?
[ETA: IT WAS. Of course it was. wow they annoy me. more and more, with every article]
Hmm. Actually, I think Sparrow James Midnight belongs in the best names. I'd probably put him in first, really. Seraphina Rose Elizabeth probably can keep first for girls. Mabel Painter is cool too.

Agree about the annoying cultural references. Like people wouldn't have heard of Edward or Ray otherwise (rolls eyes here). And actually Nicole Sullivan's dad is named Edward! And I love it how Painter is a trend, while they completely disregard the fact that it's her mother's last name (Kim Painter) and therefore not a fad at all, lol.

oh, havent you heard? people don't HONOR anymoreno, actually all names are now chosen because they're cool and hipster. It's just a coincidence that that's her mom's surname, or that Nicole Sullivan's father is named Edward. This child was named after the sparkling vampire.

HahWith Edward Cullen on the radar, no other Edward counts!

I noticed that they had to make a cultural reference for every name. For example, "Ray is a jazz favorite." I actually kind of like Sparrow James, too. It's better than Bronx Mowgli.I was reading about the symbolism of sparrow tattoos a while ago... They were important to sailors because sparrows could always find their way home, I guess. Here's an article on that. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2174297/sparrow_tattoo_a_symbol_of_freedom.html

Aww, Benjamin's a dear name! I was hoping that Tom and Gisele would come up with a gorgeous name, seeing as Tom's other son has the charming John Edward Thomas. My favourites of the 'best' list are Helena Grace, Paloma Louise, and Jasper Warren. The only ones I'm not the fondest of are Seraphina Rose Elizabeth (too intricate), Mabel Painter (Mabel is dear, but Painter is terrible), and Blaise Ray (too trendy).

you know, i may be wrong, but i don't think he had a say in his other son's name. I definately prefer Benjamin to John though

Despite everything that's been said about Tom and Bridget I find that hard to believe since Jack (John Edward Thomas) is named after him. Tom's full name is Thomas Edward.
And Bridget named him not only after his father, but also both his grandfathers, since Bridget's dad is Edward and Tom is a junior.

hmm..Benjamin is nice! But Benjamin Brady reminds me of Benjamin Barker .... i love that movie, so forgive if i'm being delusional. Does he have a mn?About the artcile. Yes, Seraphina is one of the nicest names, not just celebrity name, that i've ever heard of! It's on my list, but spelled Serafina. Other's i likeHelena Grace - very pretty, even though i'm usually not a fan of 'hel' names
MargaretNathaniel - too bad it wasn't his fn
Jasper As for the "worst of celebs baby names" list, i'm not even going to comment, i cant' decide which one i dislike most.
