To be quite honest, it is cute, but does sound a bit like a cow to me. Elsa is far more elegant to my ear. I think Elsie sounds very, very young or very, very old.

I love Elsie. I think it would work on any age. I like it as a nn for Elizabeth. I don't have any associations with it - I read a book which had a little girl called Elsie, that's about it.

Old, tired, working class. Pretty and frivolous on long-ago flappers! Funnily, I've known about three people with Elsie as a mn; one of them had a mother called Elsa.

I like Elsie just fine as long as it's a nick for Elizabeth or Elspeth. Overall, I prefer Elsa which I feel can stand on its own.

Interesting...Both my mom and my counselor (a generation older than me) thought of Elsie the cow right off. I had too Google that association. I think that might be a generational thing, at least here in the US.Thanks for the input!

I love Elsie, I think it's adorable! It's my nickname-of-choice for Eloise (my #1 girl name).
I don't have any associations for it, and since I see Elsie as a nickname, it's ageless. I'd expect Elsie-as-a-given-name to be nearing 90 years old, though.

I usually see Elsie as a nn for Elsa.I'd see it on an older woman, but that would be excuse for me to use it. =D

-I think Elsie is cutesy and juvenile.-I have no personal associations. I have an Elsa in the family, but no one has ever called her Elsie.-I see this on someone either very young, or very old. There is no in-between.

Elsie is cute in a very old-fashioned way. I imagine a little blonde country girl having this name.

1.) Elsie is adorable! Full name suggestions: Elizabeth or Elspeth.2.) When I think of Elsie I think of the little girl in Fairy Tale. You know, the movie/book about the two little girls who took photographs of fairies?3.) I actually see it on little girls. I think Elsie would be a cute name for young girl and Elspeth for when she's older.

I love Elsie as a full name and a nickname :)
It was my great grandmothers name so I see it on older women, BUT I think it's due for a revival :)
