[Facts] Origin of Corolla as a given name?
I have a friend that insists that Corolla was a given name long before Toyota used it as a model name for a car, is there any evidence to suggest this?
I know that the word "corolla" comes from Latin and meant "a small crown" or "a garland." Was Corolla ever really used as a given name?

It's extremely rare, but has been used. There are several Corollas listed in the indexes to US Censuses on Ancestry Library. I haven't had time to check the original records, but the following are probably "real" because they are listed with the same first name in indexes to more than one census:
Corolla Gillette of Shawnee County, Kansas, found in the index to 1910, 1920, and 1930 census
Corolla Aspenson of Winnebago County, Iowa, found in 1920 and 1930
Corolla Keith, living in Coleman County, Texas in 1900 and in Arizona in 1930
