Help[Opinions] Saoirse
I generally don't like Celtic names very much, but Saoirse is really growing on me, maybe also because of the association with Saoirse Ronan, the charming young actress who played Bryony in "Atonement" and stars also in the adaptation of "The Lovely Bones". Though I wouldn't use it because it would cause no end of pronounciation and spelling problems.
So, thoughts on Saoirse?

I've always liked it. It's very light and pretty, and has a pleasant sound.

I really grew to like it after seeing Atonement for the first time. I think it is pretty and I am a bit picky about Celtic names.

The only problem I would foresee would be, as you've pointed out, the constant misspellings and mispronunciations. If you like it, go ahead. It's your daughter.
By the way, you said you like the name because of Saoirse Ronan; would you pronounce it the way she does (SUR-sha) or the actual pronunciation (SEER-sha)?

Urgh, I've always seen her name written down only I wasn't even aware she pronounced it differently of how it's supposed to!

I can see exactly what you mean with it having a lot of spelling and pronounciation problems. By the way, how is it pronounced?

It's Seer-sha according to the site. I'm not from an English-speaking country so the difficulties would be greatly increased from this point of view.
