[Opinions] Edina and Patsy (à la "Absolutely Fabulous")
Okay, one of my favorite T.V. shows is the hysterical British sitcom "Absolutely Fabulous". Given the show's irreverent and bizarre style, the characters all have unusual names. It's about Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone, who are two immature, chain-smoking, alcoholic, prosperous but preposterous substance-abusing fashion and fad-obsessed Londoners who value fame and style over substance. Saffron, Edina's adolescent daughter, provides the persistently dour voice of Edina and Patsy's super-ego.Anyway, WDYT of their crazy names?Edwina Margaret Rose Monsoon, changed name to Edina and is usually called Eddy.Eurydice Colette Clytemnestra Dido Bathsheba Rabelais Patricia Cocteau Stone, a.k.a. Patsy Stone.Saffron Valentina Chanel Monsoon, a.k.a. Saffy, Edina's normal if milquetoast daughter/punching-bagSerge Etienne Jean-Luc Turtle, Edina's nearly-always absent gay son. Whenever Edina tries to find out where he is, it's always a new state or city, or sometimes a new country.Okay, obviously I love Clytemnestra, as well as Eurydice, Colette, Bathsheba, Patricia, Valentina, and Etienne. Edwina, Rose, and Serge are all growing on me. Jean-Luc and Margaret I can give or take. Saffron, Chanel, Dido, Rabelais and Cocteau I dislike.
