[Opinions] Teresa
I want to name my daughter after my sister Terri, which is short for Teresa, but she doesn't want me to call a child Terri. I don't really want to call her Teresa, but I still want her named after my sister. I was thinking of Tillie even though it has no connection at all. My surname is Hennessy so I don't want too many "s"es. Any ideas?

WDYT of Tess, Tessa, Tera or Resa as nns for Teresa? I love Teresa and especially Tess.ETA that while I think Tillie is cute, it's strictly a nn to me (for Matilda) and I don't care for it as a stand-alone name. It's quite precious, imo. Then again, I know a kitten named Tilly who is very sweet and affectionate. ;-)

Tillie is NMS to be honest, but I think that it would be okay to use a "T" name that is unrelated to Teresa as a way to honor your sister. You might also consider giving your daughter a middle name that starts with the same letter as your sister's middle name, so that her first and middle name initials would match your sister's initials. Some other ideas:
Therese / Terese (maybe as a MN if Therese and Terese are too close to Teresa for your liking?)TeresiaTheraTerraTara - It's not related to Terri and Teresa, but it's at least somewhat similar to Terri in terms of sound (depending on how you pronounce it).TarinaTirzah Tori

Thanks! What do you think of Tillie? I was think of a middle name like Lillian or something else with "l"es to make Tillie ok because I love it.

I had a good friend in school Teresa who really REALLY hated it so I really don't want to name a child Teresa. It is a nice name but I could never name a child it.

Ah, then maybe use it as a middle name?
