[Opinions] How do you pronounce.....
Elena. Do you say Eh-lay-uh or Eh-len-uh or something else? I love the name (pronounced the first way) but I think I want to spell it Elaina so that it will be pronounced the way I want it. Opinions?

Here in South Africa it's eh-LEEuh-nuh, with the middle syllable a diphthong as in ear or mere without the R. And I don't like it one bit; Elaina makes so much more sense.
I pronounce it Eh-len-uh but Elaina I pronounce EE-lay-nuh.
I have only ever heard Elena as "eh-LAY-nuh."
I dislike the Elaina spelling because it looks like a mash of two separate names: Elaine (English) and Elena (Spanish). Elaina looks like it's cheating.
C'mon. You can trust the rest of us to know that Elena is "eh-LAY-nuh." *Helpful* phonetic spellings put me off, usually.
ETA: I should have noted that I live in the U.S., if that makes a difference to you.

I've heard it pronounced Eh-lehn-uh multiple times and even this site says the pronounciation is E-le-nuh not E-LAY-nuh. That is why I'm hesitant. Yes, I prefer the look of Elena over Elaina, but at the end of the day I want it pronounced correctly.
I say "eh-LAY-nah"
I tend to pronounce it Eh-len-uh. I used to know an Elena, and she pronounced her name Eh-len-uh. I've heard it pronounced Eh-lay-uh as well too though.
I pronounce Elena as 'Eh-lehn-nah' and Elaina as 'Eh-lay-uh'.
