I like the sound of it but when I see it the word "matron" does pop out at me. Still, the sound is good. I also like the similar sounding name Petrona.

Matron is like a dorm mother. It makes me think painfully of a old, komely lady condemned to folding sheets.

Kind of sound like Matron which is a nurse...

It has a great sound and meaning, but I'd be more likely to use it for a character than a child.--

This name has a beautiful sound. Of course there is the whole 'Matron' fiasco, and the connotations that brings forth, but I still like it and love the way it sounds.

The 'matron' thing is a shame because it's such a beautiful name. You know, I think I could get over 'matron'. It's much more prominent in writing than it is when you say 'Matrona' aloud ... And we say names far more than we write them :-)_____________________________________________________________________Elinor'Why do people with closed minds, always open their mouths?'

This name is usually considered awful even in Russia where it was used before. You will never meet a girl with name in modern Russia.

Its similarity to the word "matron" kills any affection I might have for it.Array

I think of a woman (instead of a baby) whenever I see that name.If a baby where given that name, a nickname (ex. Mattie) would be cute.
