I'm probably in the minority here, but-I like Hollis for a girl and it has been growing on me too, but I don't really care for it as a boy's name.

I want to like it, but I just can't. I prefer Holly.

I knew a girl in high school named Hollis. She was both nice and pretty, so I have a good association with the name. Though I do prefer Holly.

I have a cousin named HollisA girl. Called Holly. I can't recall if its spelled Hollis or Hollice. I was so excited though when I found out her full name was Hollis though, I thought it was soo beautiful and unique (I was about 12 when I found that out). she's a really odd person though - looks like a vampire, white hair, white skin, creepy ice-blue eyes and and has the personaily of a rock with a face painted on it. So my enthusiasm for the name Hollis is somewhat dampened. Hibiscus, now there's a name.

HibiscusHibiscus reminds me of a neat little name discovery I made the other day. I'm really into Archie comics and was tickled to read that the character Jughead Jones is actually Forsythe Pendleton Jones. As if that wasn't neat and nerdy enough, he has a baby sister in the later issues (this is where Hibiscus rang a bell) named Forsythia. Forsythia!

On a boy, good. Not a fan of it as feminine. Plus I associate it with the character from Watchmen - Hollis Mason.
