[Opinions] Salome?
What are your opinions on Salome? I really love the meaning, but I kinda fear that it sounds too much like "salami." I love the combos Annika Salome, Marina Salome and Tatiana Salome, but what do you think? It is beautiful or too salami-sounding?

Well I've loved this name for awhile now. I only have problems with people thinking of Salome in the bible that did the dance of the seven veils. But a lot of people don't know that there was a second Salome in the bible. I believe she was a maid to Mary and was with her when Jesus was killed.

If it's pronounced SA-lo-may you avoid the sausage and get the possible nn of Sally. I rather dislike it if it's sa-LO-me; that low is positively depressing ... like the sigh in Simon. However, given the choice, I'd rather have the sausage.

I love the meaning, and it's a family name for me. I pronounce it SAL-o-may. However, there are a few pronunciations, and many people here would pronounce it sa-LOHM, which is why it never got serious consideration from me.

I *LOVE* Salome. It's one of my favorite names. I've never made the "salami" connection myself, but I don't think it sounds too much like it. Annika Salome is my favorite of the combos you suggested, as the flow is really nice between the two names. Very beautiful!

I think it's pretty. Not too salami-sounding, but probably best as a mn. I really like Tatiana Salome.

There was a girl named Salome in my grade school growing up. Generally, people pronounced her name correctly and I can't recall her getting too many "salami" comments...but she did sometimes. I think using it as a middle name is a good idea. Annika Salome is cool.
