I like Shannon on boys. I have actually met four guys named Shannon, which I think is cool because I don't think it is very common for guys here. I did witness two of the guys' friends making fun of their name (these guys were adults, so it wasn't exactly like a schoolyard bully situation). Shannon is one of the few unisex names that I like.

I would never do it myself or recommend anyone else do it. Shannon is one of those names that crossed into feminine territory years ago. It'll be a long time before it's seen as a boy's name again.

I've known a few Shannon's who were boys. I think it's perfectly fine.

Being a female Shannon myself, it's hard for me to have any opinion on this at all. I've known a male Shannon, though, so it's not the strangest idea. I think it sounds fine for a boy, but when just seeing his name he'd be often mistaken for a girl.

It's fine. I probably wouldn't, though. I don't think my husband would even consider it.

I like it on a boy. It's one of the very few unisex names I like.

My next door neighbor is named Shannon. He's not exactly a positive association (in that he does things like sell pot out of his garage), but since he was the first Shannon I ever met it's never struck me as odd on a boy. I don't think that he was ever teased for having a girly name or anything like that. Poor associations aside, I think it's quite nice on a boy.

I don't like it for a girl, but I think it might be nice on a boy.

I would find it fresh. But also worry a bit for the boy, as it is very strongly associated with girliness. I would like it much better on a boy for sure. But I would still fret over Mr. Shannon getting beaten up in the schoolyard.

I'm not sure what I would pair it with. An overtly masculine name might make it look even more soft in comparison. Shannon John? Hmm, looks awkward. Something unisex... Shannon Rory? Then he might be taken as a girl sight unseen for sure. Maybe something soft but still definitely boyish. Shannon Felix, Shannon Tristram? Hmm, those hit the mark a bit better.
