Moab seems the most obvious choice. Maybe also, at a stretch, Maurice, or even Richard - via Moby Dick :)

I like the idea that Mo comes from the FN and By from the last name, what about these:

Mordecai Byrnes "Moby"
Morgan By... "Moby"

What about something that you could create from the "name" Moe-B? Like... Morley Booker, or Maurice Barnaby, or Moses Bernard or something?

Also I think you should consider using Ahab / Ishmael nn Moby. Oh the irony.
