My family was originally from the Philippines, but our same name, "Gumpal," is not of Filipino or Spanish origin. Does anyone know what it means? Some of my friends say it might be East Indian or a Hindu last name. My family did say that my great-great-grandmother married a portuguese/indian man who immigrated to the Philippines.
