Caterina is more interesting and unexpected, though I love the crisp, tinkling sound of Cristina. Christina was a very common name in the era I gre up in though, so Caterina is definitely fresher and more appealing.
I think I might enjoy the spelling Catarina a bit more, because the spelleing Caterina makes me want to say "cadder-eena" rather than the proper and sharper "catta-reena", but regardless, Caterina is very nice. It seems alert, genteel and fiendly, like a warm hostess at a party in a beautiful old manor. Is Catarina not an accepted spelling where you are?
