[Opinions] Re: WDYT of Rhonda?
in reply to a message by Aine
I just don't care for it but not because it's dated. I don't like the sound of it.Probably this has or will be mentioned by others (I haven't read the other posts yet--I never do before making mine), but all I can think of is The Beach Boys song "Help Me Rhonda." Yet this isn't necessarily a bad thing, since I like that song and I like The Beach Boys in general. I just wonder if a Rhonda would be greeted throughout her life with people singing the song. Yet I don't think such a thing as a song should ruin a name. For instance, I hate when people say about Mercedes, "It's a car." It was a name before it was a car, and I hate that the fact that somebody decided to name the car after his daughter Mercedes should then ruin Mercedes as a name. The same about a song, I should say.I've known two Rhondas. The first one I knew about thirty years ago, she was a little older than I was, so I would say she'd be in her fifties now. The other was a childhood friend of my daughter's. She was about nine years old when I knew her, and would be fairly young, late twenties, now.
