Help[Opinions] Airi
I'm working on a story and trying to come up with character names. Would it be disrespectful/inappropriate/etc. to give a non-Japanese girl the name Airi? Also, what is your opinion of the name?

I wouldn't consider it inappropriate to name her Airi, as when I think of female Japanese names, Airi isn't one of them. If it were something more obvious like Akiko or Miyuki, it would stick out in my mind as strange.
Overall, the name Airi seems very quirky, yet down to earth enough to make it in the real world.

I think it depends on her background, too. If her parents are experts in Japanese/ work in the embassy there/ are stationed in Okinawa and want to give her a Japanese name because of that, it would make more sense than just pulling it out of the air.
