[Opinions] How do you pronounce
Replies
Layla, Laila, Leila, and Leyla are all LAY-la to me. Lila and Lyla are LIE-la. Laelia I would say LAY-lee-uh.
I don't know many Laylas, but my friend in a different state says she's heard of tons of young Laylas. (She always wanted to name a daughter Leila, but it got popular so she ended up naming her dog Leila instead.) I only know one Lila - she'd be about 5 now, I think? Never heard of Laelia before.
I like Lila spelled Lilah. I don't really care for the others.

On sight, I pronounce...
Layla/Laila/Leila/Leyla = LAY-luh
Lila/Lyla = LIE-luh
And my first guess for Laelia would be LAY-lee-uh.

Me, too.
Layla - LAY-la
Laila - LAY-la
Leila - LAY-la
Leyla - LAY-la
Lila - LIE-la (but can understand LEE-la if the person was Hispanic or Italian)
Lyla - LIE-la
Laelia - LAY-lee-a
I've never heard Leila as anything but LAY-la, and am sure that most people in the US who see it would pronounce it that way.
I don't know anyone with any of these names, but I've seen Lila and Lyla popping up here and there on people's lists.

Layla-- LAY-la
Laila-- LAY-la
Leila-- LAY-la
Leyla-- LAY-la
Lila-- LYE-la (but I've also heard LEE-la)
Lyla-- LYE-la
Laelia-- LAY-lee-a
I think that LAY-la is the the most common pronunciation for Leila... The names are very pretty, and not overused yet, though the double L names are gaining popularity. I know a Laylah, and while I haven't met a Lila yet, the name does seem to pop up often on name boards. If you're worried about popularity, I think you're safe with Laelia. :)

Layla - LAY-lah
Laila - LAY-lah
Leila - I used to always pronounce it LAY-lah, but now that I'm learning German I am transitioning to LIE-lah.
Leyla - LAY-lah
Lila - LIE-lah
Lyla - LIE-lah
Laelia - LAY-lee-ah
I don't think it's all that popular. I don't know any with any of the spellings, nor have I heard of any via friends or anything.
