I pronounce it CLAIR-ah and I really like it.
I know one Clara and she's only two or three. She's adorable though and I like that her name isn't Kylie/Miley/Riley/Hayley/Kayley/Bailey like all the other girls her age.

I like it, but not as much as Clare.

I say CLAH ra, but once I met a couple who couldn't decide between Sarah and Clare for their daughter, so they named her Clara and pronounced it CLAIR a. Not good.

The only Claras I've known have been German, so that doesn't help.

I say CLARR-a. I like the name, but don't know of anyone called Clara.

My great-grandmother was named Clara Edith, but for whatever reason, went by Edith.

She pronounced it CLAIR-uh so that's how I pronounce it too, but both pronunciations are legit. If you told me CLARR-uh, I wouldn't hesitate.

I think it is less boring than Clare and less trashy than Lara. It doesn't have nn or pet names really, except for Clare or Lara.

Clara Josephine is my favorite, also Clara Sophia, Clara Virginia.

I love Clara's old-fashioned charm. It was once so popular, and then fell almost completely out of use, much like Abigail and Hannah. However, Abigail and Hannah have made comebacks, while Clara hasn't. This I don't really understand, as I find Abigail and Hannah quite unattractive, while Clara is so pretty. It deserves to make a comeback too!

Its an "older" name so the only women I know/knew with this name were born in the 30's. I like old lady names, though! lol

Clara was my great-grandmother's name, so I think of a sturdy, no-nonsense type of woman when I hear it.

I pronounce it CLAIR-a. I don't know anyone named Clara presently, but it was my great-grandmother's name. I think it's a lovely name. It's on my list.
