[Opinions] Virginia?
I think Virginia is such a beautiful classic name but I fear about the teasing potential. Do you think she would be the subject of merciless teasing? Thanks!

I love Virginia! I also love the nickname Ginny, which I think lessens the teasing potential.

This is a family name that I would love to use. My reluctance has more to do with the family connections than teasing. I'm not really worried because I see virginity as a good thing. I think Ginger is a really sweet nickname, and that's what I would use.Combos I have considered or am considering:
Rebecca Virginia "Rebecca"
Rebecca Virginia "Ginger"
Virginia Rebecca "Ginger"
Virginia Charity "Ginger Cat", "Ginger Kitty", "Ginger"
Charity Virginia "Kitty"
Virginia Rose "Ginger", maybe "Ginger Rose"
Virginia May "Ginger"
Virginia Lee (too much Civil War)? / Virginia Leah
Virginia Marie "Ginger" (too Catholic?)
Lindy Virginia? Lindsey Virginia?

Surprisingly, I really like the name Virginia. It doesn't seem like the kind of name I'd gravitate to, but it feels really natural to me - like I could easily imagine myself running down supermarket aisles screaming "VIRGINIA GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW".I don't think there will be any undue teasing, especially if you are a US citizen. I'm sure there will be a genius third-grader who learns what the word "virgin" means and decides it makes a really good joke, but it's not like you're calling her Nosexette. I think it would be ok. I don't hear of too many Virginias who hate their name.

I love Virginia. And I know plenty of ladies of all ages with this name. I really don't think it causes as much teasing as people think. It's still used regularly in the South.

AhhhhhI feel happy whenever someone mentions it! I've always liked it, but once I discovered that my husband likes it too, it moved WAY up on my list. Like tied for #2. I love love love it!My feelings about the teasing potential is that everyone is going to get teased somehow, whether it's about their name or not, and I don't think a whole lot of kids even have heard the word "virgin" when they're the age where they'll tease. Besides, it's not like it's a bad thing.

I wouldn't think she'd be teased.
I've known two Virginias, and neither had any trouble. One became a nun, (Sister Virginia). It's a good name, and I've always liked it.

I think that it does have teasing potential. I would just leave it as a middle name

I love the name Virginia. I think there is teasing potential, but likely not until junior high or high school when kids start to find out what a virgin is. If that happens, you can always explain to young Virginia that being a virgin is not a bad thing, but can be a very good thing. If you're religious, you could always mention the Virgin Mary. -shrug- Might be a teaching opportunity. The teasing may be lessened if everyone knows her as Ginny.Or you could use it in the middle name slot.
