[Opinions] Oriel
I love the name Oriel for a girl. It's an obsolete medieval name. I pronounce it 'AW-ree-el'. My only concern is teasing because of "oral", though they do sound quite distinct to me ...Like any of these combos?
Oriel Amara
Oriel Bethanie
Oriel Charlotte
Oriel Diana
Oriel Estella
Oriel Katrina
Oriel Mariah
Oriel Noelle
Oriel Rebekah
Oriel Sophia* Reference if anyone is interested: http://www.s-gabriel.org/names/talan/reaney/reaney.cgi?Oriel

I didn't think of oral, actually, but I did think of Oreo (a cookie in the U.S., what you might call a biscuit; also a bit of a racial slur here) and oriole, the bird. NMS, really, but kind of nice and refreshing in a way, too. :)BTW, are you pronouncing it more like OR-ee-uhl or OR-ee-ell (or with the emphasis more on the last syllable)?Of the combos, I like:
Oriel Charlotte
Oriel Diana
Oriel Estella
Oriel Katrina
Oriel Sophia
*I like the very feminine mn's with it. Nice balance.

I don't particularly care for it but if it eases your concern any, my first reaction wasn't to equate it with "oral." :-) I did think of an oriole, though, but bird references aren't socially devastating or anything.

When I got my first name book, I must've been about 7 or 8. It had Oralie / Oralee and I loved it! I don't think I even knew the word "orally" then, but sadly the name is spoilt for me now :-(Thanks for the feedback :-)_____________________________________________________________________Elinor'Why do people with closed minds, always open their mouths?'

Yes, I think it's so pretty and it makes me think of the old song (spelled Aura Lee?). :) But ripe for teasing, definitely. :(

Looks masculine to me. I'm torn between Orion and Ariel with it. I probably wouldn't use it because of oral, though, as you said.:)

Oral didn't even come to mind for me. :)
Oriel looks much more masculine to me considering it's one letter away from Uriel and the fact that Ori is a boy's name and -el ends more boy's names then girls.Still if you like it for a girl, then I like...Oriel Amara
Oriel Charlotte
Oriel Estella -LOVE Estella!!
Oriel Noelle -lovely!
Oriel Rebekah
