I have mixed feelings about this name. It almost feels like I have to like it (because I really like Mathilde/Matilde and Mathilda/Matilda), but the Colth- part is very unattractive to me.

I really like the name. I don't find it at all stuffy!

I just became aware of it too. I think it's subtle and lovely. I would call her Clio for short.

I love Clotilda, so clunky and Dark Ages-ish funky. And then the French come along and turn her into a princess, fit for the ball.

Clothilde is gorgeous. No two ways about it. I've tinkered with the idea of using Chloe as a nn for Clotilda / Clothilde. I know they are etymologically different. But it is a fun option.

Ste. Clothilde has such an interesting story! The name is certainly uncommon, interesting meaning. I also like the nns Tilda and Tilly. Using it in English might be tough, the spelling Clotilde might be better so people avoid saying "cloth-ild."
