When little Cleisthenes was born a frail child, Aloysius took it harshly. He had always dreamed of having a young son who was happy and had a healthy glow. As Cleisthenes faded, Aloysius grew angry. He took it out on everyone he met. Afterward, he was greatly ashamed and asked everyone's forgiveness, which he was gladly given. Everyone understood how he could be angry, for they, too, would have been greatly enraged if their son had died before the week was out.
Esther was very weak from the birthing of her frail son. She mourned to see him go, and this didn't help in her recuperation. There were times when Aloysius thought she, too, would be lost.
On the two-year anniversary of Cleisthenes death, Mavourneen Penelope Lucasta Matilda and Mignon Serafina Xylia Camille were born. Both were darling and reminded Esther and Aloysius of their darling son who was lost. They gave them both names with a meaning of "darling," for that is truly what they are: darlings.
When Mavy and Miggie came into the world healthily and glowingly, Aloysius was a little outraged that his only son (as of yet) had been born too frail to last a week. A single glance at Mavy and Miggie reminded him of his Cleisthenes. As the days have been passing, Aloysius has become quite attached to his darling daughters--all of them: Lark, Mavy, and Miggie. Still, he would like to have a son to watch bloom. He is urging Queen Esther to try for more. She is willing, but she must recuperate after her two hard pregnancies--especially the twins--and after losing her darling son.
The kingdom (just calling it that) is upset about Cleisthenes. Every woman and girl child seemed to almost know him they were told so much about him in the few days he lived. Everyone wept for the little one; many prayed that they would be blessed with another son. A few have even suggested putting Sylvester on the throne if the Queen and King fail to have a healthy son that lasts. A few passionate women (and a couple men, too) who are totally for women's rights have suggested having Lark become Queen, for that is what happened with Esther, though Esther was an only child. Esther and Aloysius don't know what to do, but know that God will provide them with an answer when the time comes.
