Help[Opinions] Lynn for a girl.
This is my dad's first name and I've recently decided I really like it for a girl. I'm thinking of - don't kill me - Lynn Michelle. She would be named after her two grandfathers. If I could think of a way to honor my mom and his for a boy I'd do it as well (They're Kathleen Rose & Susan Dianne) Also: Wdyt of Helen Kathleen & Veronica Dianne? I especially like the latter.
I know the name is plain and pedestrian but I do like it. We're both close to our dads and I think it would be really neat.
Opinions?

I only like the spelling Lin, but I'm willing to like Lynn if it's honoring. I can't say I like Michelle (it's too pink and frilly IMO) but if you like it I don't see anything wrong with it.
I like Helen Kathleen.
Would Apollo be too much of a stretch? (Dianne --> Artemis --> boy --> Apollo) Okay, I admit it, it's too much of a stretch. Maybe Catalin for a boy version of Kathleen? Saxon sounds a little like Susan, but they're completely unrelated... Royse for Rose maybe? Or Royston? Meh... this is hard. What about Shoshan? (because Susan came from Shoshannah.)?

I love Lynn for a girl. I'm always asking what she did wrong to be sentenced to the mn-only position. Marie must have been in on it with her, whatever it was.
But they've both served their time. Lynn's time as a fn has come! (By the way, I love it for a boy even more.) Lynn Michelle is very unique in today's nurseries. ;-)

I do not dislike the combo, but because Lynn is such a nice simple name, you can go jazzy with the middle name. And with there being so many wonderful feminine versions of Michael, it almost feels like you didn't look very far before you just decided : Lynn Michele!
Maybe Micheline or Mihaela, Michayla could be a nice middle name. Or maybe not... Honoring is wonderful and you should do it however you choose. Mix, match, plain Jane... it's what means the most to you that makes the real difference IMO.

I think it would be a bit refreshing to see as a fn, kind of like Marie. My dad's cousin's name is Lynn, and had a friend in school named Lynn, too. On a female I associate it with either of them, so it's not bad. I like it much better on a guy, though. I've known a couple male Lynns, too-- my great-uncle and a guy I went to high school with.
So is Michelle honoring a Michael, then? I think Lynn Michael on a boy would be really nice. Or Michael Lynn. Whichever.
Helen Kathleen and Veronica Dianne are both very you. :) Both are sophisticated and have a nice vintage feel. And make me imagine flowing chocolate or something? I can't quite put my finger on it!

I dislike Lynn and Michelle but because they are honouring, that makes the combo really something quite special. I would prefer Linden Michaela (assuming Michelle honours a Michael?) or even Lynden Michaela.
Helen Kathleen is very homely and warm sounding. Veronica Dianne is so strong and the flow is great. I like both combos very much.

Fair enough on the Lyndon associations. I know about Lyndon Johnson but I had to look up who Lyndon LaRouche was...definitely more of an American association there! I have always liked Linden (my cousin was very nearly named Linden Rose and when she was born I thought it was the most beautiful name ever and it has stayed that way in my mind even after 16 years) but I have to say that Lynden doesn't look nearly as nice and it loses the naturey feel to it.

I really like the idea of Lynn as a first name. Lynn Michelle is decent, but I think that a 3+ syllable middle name would sound better with Lynn. I'm not sure if you're open to the idea of two middle names, but if you placed another name between Lynn and Michelle, you could still honor her grandfathers. There's also the option of using Lynn Michaela / Micaela.
Helen Kathleen is pretty, and I really like Veronica. Dianne isn't my style, but it flows nicely with Veronica.

I've heard of Lynn being used on men, but I've only met female Lynns (it's the name of one of my aunts). I like it because it's simple, sweet, and uncommon for this generation, at least in the first name spot.

Lynn for a guy is pretty midwestern.
You really don't hear Lynn for men outside of this area. I know a few men with the name, all from here.

It's pretty. Lynn Michelle's not a bad combo; I don't like Michelle but that's a taste thing. And besides it's not bad here.
I know a Lynn. She's japanese and her middle name is Ai. Isn't that neat? Lynn Ai.

Lynn Ai is cute. I'd love to use a very Swedish or German name but my husband is just too conserative to do so - even if it's on our family tree. Magdalena is about as "far out" as he will go.

Lynn is my mum's name, I think it's lovely. Lynn has such a short, sweet, elegance about it. I'm not fond of Lynn Michelle, I think Lynn needs a 3+ syllable middle name; maybe Lynn Anastasia?

Using the name to honor someone is noble in my words. I would say that would be making a pedestrian name into a name with some oomph behind it.
