[Surname] Brabant ...region of Netherlands/Belgium

One of my cousins has an ancestor 'LEBRABANÇON' who accompanied William the Conqueror in 1066, etc. ...I've determined he's from Brabant, but would like to know the etymology of 'Brabant' ...thanks!
