As the years go on, tensions are rising with the neighboring empire of Suvorov. Their new tsar Constantine III (Eleanora's late's sister's erstwhile fiance) is cruel, bloodthirsty, and land-hungry. Louis shrewdly decides to form an alliance with Suvorov, and negotiates a peace treaty and many arbitrations; he even takes his whole family on an extended stay in Tsar Constantine's palace--who, oddly, is very fond of children, and endears himself to all four of the little ones (unfortunately, Eléa must stay behind). It is during this stay that Eleanora becomes pregnant for the fourth time, and nine months later she gives birth to a healthy prince, whom they name after Louis' late younger brother Philippe. To show their gratitude for his hospitality and participation in the peace negotiations, they choose Constantine as one of little Philippe's middle names.
