I never like Ann with no E on it. It looks ... I dunno. Incomplete? to me.
I'd spell it as one word if I have to choose between Carol-Ann and Carolann. I'd even more prefer a double first name Carol Ann (which is more honoring in a way, but IMO to honor you don't need the middle name unless you knew her as Carol Ann and not Carol). If I don't have to worry about honoring, I'd rather
be Carolanne, though, or better yet, Carolane (I couldn't care less if I had to correct people's pronunciation, and I would even consider pronouncing it cair-uh-lawn).
