Altan and Enver are siblings from Dörtyol, Turkey, and they are 4 and 1 years old respectively. They lost their parents in an earthquake six months ago and have no known relatives. Altan has straight black hair, brown eyes and olive skin. He likes playing with building blocks and clay, fingerpainting, animals and playing football (soccer). Enver has brown eyes and olive skin like his brother, but his hair, though also straight, is brown. He likes being sung and read to, toy cars, being tickled and colourful clothes. The boys only speak Turkish and have thus far been raised Muslim.
Both Altan and Enver have a genetic disease called phenylketonuria, in which the body is not able to metabolise a substance, phenylalanine, properly. They must follow a strict, low-phenylalanine diet until their late teens, complemented with nutritional supplements and frequent blood tests.
Please let us know how Altan and Enver are doing!
