I always think of Johanna in Sweeney Todd. Thats not a bad thing at all though.

ditto! I think that's why I love the name so much. It's so pretty and vintage, non fussy and romantic - I love it!
I pron. it Jo-anna, but I also like the German pronunciation, however where I live Jo-anna is more natural.

However if it is actually Johanna, I am much relieved. I was so disappointed when I heard her name. I find Joanna so dull.

It's Johanna, but they pronounce it like Joanna.
