A little more than a month after their arrival, the Nazis invade the Netherlands, including Amsterdam, where they are living (Ziva's Dutch gentile friends have given them the small, unused apartment above their bakery). Despite this, the conditions in the Netherlands are not as bad as in Poland. They want to keep their family safe, so they are trying to bring over whoever else they can. (Ziva's remaining family in Warsaw includes her parents, Eliahu and Elizabet, her brother Benjamin, age 21, and her sister Irena, 24, who has a husband named Jakov and two daughters, Anna, two, and Zofia, nb. Solomon has his parents, Avraham and Rachel, and his sisters, Eva, 18, and Sara, 13.)
In July, Ziva found out that she was expecting a baby, and gives birth to Adrian Michael David in early January, 1941.
