I've thought that Terrance was a nice, old-fashionedy, handsome name. Tonight, I actually MET a Terrance, and seriously, he made the name great with his personality. It made me think, "It works as a modern name!" So I'd like to know your general feelings about Terrance. Do you like Terence or Terance better? What would be a good mn for it? What would be a good fn for it if it was moved to mn position?

I love the name! It's one of those overlooked treasures that make people say, "Hey. I forgot about that one. What a great name." It sparkles.
And I also love the nn Terry for a boy. I think the use of Teri as a nn for Theresa made Terry for a boy go out of fashion and it's such a shame. I strongly prefer the Terence spelling. Terrance visually makes me think of a terrace. Besides, the original Latin name is Terentius so the Terence spelling looks the most authentic to me.

I like it. I prefer Terrence and Terence because Terrance looks like 'terrace' and Terance looks awkward.

Terence is fine. It is a bit dated, at least where I live - I think of it in connection with names like Gordon, Leslie, Desmond, Malcolm and Maurice, and I haven't seen a young one yet. But I'd quite like to. And I'm always swayed towards liking names by meeting nice people with them, too.
I'd probably put it with something traditional, like maybe Terence Arthur or Terence James. But for some reason Terence Dudley just popped into my head and is looking quite lovable.

Absolutely can't abide Terrance. Terence, however, is fine ... good dramatist too, the original one was.
I know a couple who named their daughter Terry. When I asked them what they would have named a son, they chorused "Terry!" which put me off it rather. Terence Geoffrey could work; I think it needs something to match its retro charm. (Terence Jaedyn would be horrific!)
