[Opinions] Trey
What do you think of the names Trey / Tré, Tavo (short for Gustavo) and Tora / Torah? Particularly for siblings? Can you think of any middle names for any or all of them? I'm looking for unusual middle names, and nothing too feminine for Torah. What do you think? (feel free to be harsh, I won't be offended!)

I like Trey, to me its a really preppy name (often used for a III, as Ken Griffey, Jr. did with his son). However, I think that its more recent use has tainted the name and given it a more darker, gangster style aire to it.

Even though I didn't really want a feminine middle name for Torah, I have to admit that I really like Torah Amelie. I also like Torah Elise and Belle. I considered Trey Vincent before I posted originally. What do you think of Trey Vincent and Torah Amelie? Do you have any suggestions for Tavo? Thanks for your help!

Yikes! A biiiiiggg mis-reading on my part!I misread Torah as Tovah! Torah is terrible. Do you know what the Torah is? I'm Jewish, so it's like naming a kid Bible or Koran. Nope.Tovah is lovely, though.

Somebody else suggested Tovah too, and I do like the meaning, so i will think about it. I knew before I posted what the Torah was, but I don't think it is a bad thing for a child to share a name with. I will think some more about Tovah, thankyou for posting!

Trey is very "gang" like. As in I imagine someone with the name Trey selling cocaine.

Sorry, I don't like the name Trey because it reminds me too much of the French word "tres" meaning "very." I realize in English Trey means "three" and it might be kind of cool for a third child, or a nn for someone whose the third generation of a name ("the III"). But overall I just can't warm up to it. How about Tate? Trey Kendall, Trey Julian, Trey Alexander? Something less unusual to anchor it, so to speak. Two unusual names together gives the impression of "trying too hard."I do love Gustavo, however. I prefer Gustav (Max), but perhaps Gustavo fits better with the last name. Gustavo Javier / Xavier, Gustavo Clement(e), Gustavo Oscar, Gustavo Adrian, Gustavo David (da-VEED), Gustavo Elias? Torah is a little *too* Biblical for me. You do know that the first five books of the Old Testament are known as the Torah, right? (I'm not a Biblical scholar so someone correct me on this if I'm wrong.) Tovah, on the other hand, is a beautiful name for a girl/woman, rich in history and meaning. Tirzah is another one I love. Would either of them interest you? Torah Eve, Torah Sarai, Torah Miriam, Torah Kate. I know you said you didn't want a feminine sounding mn, but if I saw Torah on a list I wouldn't know if that was a girl or a boy. A feminine mn would help out alot. Come to think of it, I knew a Taura once. She was born under the sign of Taurus and her parents named her Taura. I can't say I ever liked the name.Good luck and please let us know if any of our suggestions seem do-able.

I did consider Taura to make it less Bible-y but I prefer the way Torah looks. I don't like the name Laura and that is all I see when I look at Taura! (I know it doesn't make any sense as Torah is pronounced the same way just with a "T" at the beginning, but it sounds different in my head!)
I like Trey Julian. I like the name Xavier, but do you think the "a" in -tavo is too similar to the "a" at the start of Xavier? Other than that, I like that combination. Thankyou for your help!

Thanks for the feed-back.I know what you mean about Torah/Taura being different in your head. That's one of the fun mysteries about names that I like; the subliminal associations we have with them. I'm glad you like Trey Julian. :-)I was pronouncing Gustavo as "goos-TAH-vo" and Xavier as "ZAY-vyur." If you are pronouncing them with the same vowel sounds then unfortunately yes, it might not work so well. Thanks again for getting back to us. I wish more posters did that.

I like them pretty well. Trey and Tavo are cute. Tora(h) is a bit too much like naming a child Bible or Koran to me. As siblings, I think they're fine. Though they all start with the same letter, the sound of each name is different enough that I don't think it'd be a problem. (I love a bunch of names that start with L, though, and thus I wouldn't be concerned about the idea of children with the same first initial.)Middle names:Trey Antonio
