[Opinions] Re: Middle names for Alma?
in reply to a message by Alma
My best friend's mn is her Chinese name too. Anne Wan-Qing. I've always thought it was pretty cool.I assume you're just asking us in fun and you're not thinking of changing it legally, right? In that spirit, how about:Alma Celeste (heavenly soul)
Alma Josephine
Alma Sophie
Alma Gervaise
Alma Germaine
Alma Bryony
Alma Willow
Alma Sonnet
Alma Wren
Alma Charlotte
Alma Noor (too elegant for any mere mortal -- use with extreme care)
Alma Coral
Alma Juniper
Alma Aurelia ("o-RAY-lee-uh")
Alma Sylvia
Alma Virginia
Alma Julia By the way, I love the name Alma. It's similar to another favorite, Alba. Are you pronouncing it with an "ah" sound at the beginning, or an "a" sound? Just curious. (I used the "ah" version in the combos above.)

Yes, it's just for fun. I'm not sure what you mean by 'ah' or 'a' though. I pronounce it AL-mə, with the AL like the word 'owl'.
Anyway, I like Alma Bryony (prefer it spelt Briony though) and Alma Sylvia :)

Glad you liked the combos. I've heard Alma pronounced with a definite, short "a" sound, as in Alfred and Albert. That's what I was trying to avoid. It sounds as though we are saying it the same way. :-D
