The Kingdom of Bial is dishonored with the illicit behaviors of the English Lady
Mary and her affairs with a young stable boy. All of Bial is gossiping over who’s having affairs with who. The poor judgment of Walter’s mother the Dowager
Queen Elizabeth has caused great shame to
Walter. The whole of Bial is not usually accustomed to these sorts of affairs being aired out for the public. While it is no secret that inside the royal court there are many liaisons between parties in unhappy marriages, Bial usually handles the affairs in a quite dignified manner.
The rumor’s flying all through the town of whose having an affair with who have caused
Walter to act differently around those he cares about.
Walter fears that the reason
Eleonore has disappeared from court is do to the gossip.
Walter is particularly frustrated with
Eleonore being gone from court. He has been irritable and very displeasing to those around him. His anger he has been turning toward
Hedy, he yells and accuses her of sending away her sister.
Walter told
Hedwig that she should be happy to have her sister by her side in the palace that
Eleonore is a trustable and respectable woman who would not shame Bial.
Hedwig was quite displeased with her husband’s adamant behavior towards her about her sister
Eleonore. To
Hedwig his behavior is a testament to their affair. In fact, sadly, nothing had happened between
Walter and
Eleonore more then flirting. When
Eleonore disappeared from court
Walter was enraged he had planned to take her as his mistress and he took her disappearing, yet again, to mean that she had no interest in returning to him.
Walter felt foolish but even more he thought that
Eleonore was foolish for not choosing to be with him. He could have done so many great things for her and her little girls. He was quietly happy to himself that the monster of a husband she has had yet to get a boy on her. He had wanted to be the one whose son she bore. He had those feelings but now they turned to anger when he thought of her leaving him. He took extra precautions to keep their relationship and feelings a secret. He could not send out his guards or pages to spy on her.
In the midst of it all
Hedwig was very pregnant and delivered another boy successfully. All Bial was happy with another male heir has the Kaarmann line would continue on.
Maximilian was named after past Kings of Bial,
King Maximilian;
Ludwig was a name
Hedwig choose after her grandfather,
King Wilhelm Walter’s grandfather,
Rupert his mother’s brother, and
Joseph his brother.
Maximilian is tinier then
August but he is very lively and active. He seems to be a discontent child, and
Hedwig believes it to be because his father is in such turmoil inside himself and that little
Maximilian senses it.
August very much would like to like baby
Maximilian but his continually crying has put
August off.
August spends much time outdoors playing, he has a puppy of his own named
Gunnar who he runs and chases with.
Gunnar will grow with
August and should prove to be a good hunting companion.
August and
Walter spend much of their time together.
August proudly struts behind his father which is the only joy and comfort
Walter can find. He laughs at his little shadow as he affectionately calls his son.
Walter also took the time to write his siblings, especially
Adelheid, to express how their behavior is now more then ever being watched and that he will not tolerate them making a mockery out of the Kingdom of Bial. He added in his note to
Adelheid that no matter what the French court is like that kind of conduct is not expected from a Bialan and she should not take a lover even if the Dauphin has many mistresses. Her duties now lie between two countries that of Bial and
France.
