[Opinions] Birth Announcement!
One of my professors and his wife had a baby boy four months ago. His name is Afton. Prof says it's after a river in Scotland.
I like it, but it does remind be a bit of 'after'.

Great!
Like the Robert Burns poem? That's neat. It isn't a common name but fits in well with what are common names. Two syllables, ending in -n, etc.

I like it and I prefer it for a boy. (Unrelated but Afton is a Swedish word for evening, which is one reason why I like it)
Hmm, not a fan. It does seem like a name a professor would give their child though. Seems scholarly.
Weird...
As uncommon of a name as this is...I once knew of a little girl with the name Afton (I think that's how it was spelled). I think it's okay, I don't have any gender preference either.

That's kind of cute. I don't think it's too close to after. Afton. Afton. Hmm. Yup, I kinda like it. Different, but definitely still along the lines of the many two-syllable ending-in-n boy names floating around now.
I kind of like it. It seems a good professory type of name.
Oh I love that name and I have never heard of it or thought about it. Love it! I wonder what the middle name is.
Great choice.
Great choice.
Not sure about the middle name, and I didn't want to be creepy and ask lol.
Oh, I think Afton is great! Nice choice!
Pity it was four months ago - if he'd been born on January 25 he'd have appeared on Burns Nicht! And Robert Burns wrote:
Flow gently, sweet Afton, among thy green braes!
Flow gently, I'll sing thee a song in thy praise!
My Mary's asleep by the murmuring stream --
Flow gently, sweet Afton, disturb not her dream!
And a whole lot more, actually; it's quite a long poem.

Love Afton on both a boy and a girl.
Couldn't use it myself, cause I look after a little Ashton and have done for 5 years, and they are too similar. But I love it for someone else.
