It has been a bittersweet time for Eleonore and her family in the past seven years. There has been much happiness, but they have known sadness as well. It had become common knowledge that Eleonore (though still a married woman herself...) had been King Walter's mistress for many years. In fact, the people had even managed to study her children and identify accurately which children belonged to Eleonore's husband, the Duke, and to her lover, the King. In truth, it really wasn't a difficult task as Val, Ami & Johan were all darker in complexion like Heinrich, whereas Fritzi, Gitta & Mati appearances all seemed to fit with the Kaarmann family. It may have seemed a strange dynamic to the courts, but the two sisters, Eleonore & Hedwig, and the King they both loved had formed their own family dynamic and it worked in a strage sort of way...
Seven years ago, tradigy struck. Hedwig had become pregnant again, but it was a difficult pregnancy from the start. Eleonore helped her in any way she could to keep up her strength and was with her dear sister throughout the birth. Hedwig died moments after delivering her last child, a daughter that was promptly named after her mother. It was a very bittersweet day for all concerned, and Eleonore mourned her sister deaply. Of course, there were rumours that Eleonore was secretly thrilled that her sister was out of the way so she could now have the King all to herself, but there could not have been further from the truth. Eleonore's number one priorities of course were her family and set herself to supporting Walter and her neices and nephews through this difficult time as best she could. She was so honored when Walter decided to name the new babe not only after Hedwig, but herself also and loved that babe as if it were her own.
Around about this same time, Heinrich disappeared. He had been in Orlais settling some diplomatic matters and left to go back to his 'other' family in rural France, but never arrived. A search was launched, but no sign of Heinrich was discovered. After he had been missing without a trace for a year, he was decleared dead and suddenly Eleonore and Walter found themselves in the strange position of both being widowed. Without Hedwig and Heinrich, Eleonore and Walter were able to truly become a couple, something that was strange for them both after hiding their relationship for so many years.
Four years ago, Eleonore finally became Walter's wife, a position denied to her by her father all those years ago. Of course, with being Walter's wife, she also became Queen of Bial, a title she doesn't like to use however as in her eyes that still belongs to Hedwig. Walter gave her the most precious of all wedding gifts however when he publically announced that Fritzi, Gitta and Mati were of his loins and would forth be given all rights that that entitled them to. Eleonore cried with joy at this, knowing that now none of her children could be called illegitamte. They had been married a year when Eleonore birthed their second son, but the first child of theirs that Walter could claim from the moment of his birth. Little Wolf is the shinging light of the palace and is adored by ALL of his brothers and sisters, as many of them as there are...
In the 3 years since Wolf's birth, there have been a number of weddings for the Bergfalk/Kaarmann family. Everyone had known for many years that Lady Valeria and Prince Arthur had become quite the duo, so when they decided to marry it was a match that pleased everyone. No one but Eleonore was quite so happy however as not only was Arthur a fine young prince, but they were in love and after her own loveless marriage, that was all she really wanted for her daughters. Valeria and Arthur's wedding was an elaborate affair, and when they welcomed baby Josef only a year later everyone was thrilled. Josef is a sweet baby who looks a great deal like his grandfather and namesake, Prince Joseph.
Ami's had been betrothed to a young Lord from France with whom she got along with resonably well and had been introduced to by Lutz. She was planning to travelling to France to marry him on her 16th birthday, but then King George came to Bial to meet Anelie... and with King George came his younger brother, Prince Edward. The attraction between Ami and Edward was instaneous and passionate and they quickly fell in love. Ami regretfully broke her betrothal to the French lord whose name she had already forgotten and married her english Prince instead. She accompanied her cousins Anelie and Ella back to England and, seeing as they all live at the palace, does her best to keep an eye on them both. Ami (or Amelia as she is known in England) has just welcomed twins, Eleanor and Harry. Eleonore is planning to take the young children and visit Ami, Anelie, Ella and the twins soon.
Fritzi has matured in leaps and bounds, especially since Walter and Eleonore's marriage and having his paternaty legally acknowledged. The title of 'Prince' has taken some getting used to for him however, but it does make people listen to what he has to say, and Fritzi usually has something important to say. He takes pride when his brothers, especially August, ask him for an opinion on matters concerning Bial and makes a habit of ensuring that he is well informed. He's a quick thinker and has a talent for politics and has secured himself a place at his brothers side as an adviser. August also recently help Fritzi secure himself a wife, an Italian Countess by the name of Eloisa. They have only just recently married, but Fritzi is already very fond of his Italian beauty.
Johan has been the most problematic child for Eleonore, but has settled greatly since Heinrich's death. Johan was only six years old when he inherited the Duccy of Bergfalk from Heinrich, and the responsibility of it weighed heavy on his shoulders. He became a very angry young man, a trait Eleonore had seen many times in his father. Walter spent a lot of time with him just chatting with the young Duke and by his eighth birthday, Walter had managed to turn an angry, sullen little boy into a gentleman. He still did have a temper and Eleonore thought it best to send him for military training to provide an outlet for that anger, as well as teach him the discipline he would need to control it. Johan is now 12 and his commanders have often lamented that his title as it means he can never truly become a military man, though he is well suited for it and would make a fine officer. Johan is a good man, and Walter was pleased to orchestrate a fine marriage for him and he has now been betrothed to Henriette-Élisabeth Sophie Marguerite ‘Heike’ Bonfils, Princess of France.
Gitta is a very motherly girl whom can always be relied upon to look after her younger siblings. Apperance wise, she has been compared to Anelie her whole life and it is true that she is just as beautiful as her elder sister. She enjoys her lessons emensely, but can often be found curled up in the stables among the horses with a book. She's a very sweet girl, with a kind, loving soul and is loved by almost everyone, but especially by Fritzi who calls her his 'Mäuschen'. Fritzi has already taken it upon himself to veto any potential matches for Gitta, even though tradition states that Walter, or perhaps August, should really decide. They know that Fritzi and Gitta have a very close bond however so chose to let him decide, knowing that he will act always in Gitta's best interests, though they all know that with Gitta's looks, they will not be short on offers.
Mati is very similar to Gitta in appearance, but one usually can't tell through all the mud and dirt that is likely to be smeared on her face and skirts. Mati is not much for staying indoors with her needlework, no she is more often than not found running around the grounds with her brother, Christian. Mati knows that Christian is going off for military training soon and wishes she could go too rather than be stuck indoors with Gitta, Hedwig and Wolf as she knows she probably will be. He tends to just laugh at her and remind her that one day she will have to act like a Princess if she ever wants to get married, but Mati claims to not want a husband as she doesn't want anyone to tell her what to do... Eleonore calls Mati her 'free spirit', but also hopes that she will grow up and become a lady soon...
