I love Jemima and I'm trying to decide whether or not the Aunt Jemima character has tainted it beyond repair. (I'm American, and always have been.) One minute I think yes, the next I think no. I'm leaning towards no right now. I hate it when an association renders a name unusable. I think all it would take, in America, would be a few hardy souls to use Jemima and it could rise above the happy slave connotation. Maybe it can happen. I'm holding my breath waiting.
