[Opinions] Auto?
As an alternate spelling of Otto?
Replies
Auto really doesn't work as an alternative to Otto, as Otto is a name, while Auto means car.
lol
I could deal with it. It's kinda tongue-in-cheek funny, like a cheesy hot-rod movie from the 60's.
Otto is still better though. I wouldn't be brave enough to declare "it's spelled A-U-T-O".

Absolutely not... unless Otto is supposed to be a car.
It would be an alternative pronunciation as well, surely? And that moves it too far from Otto to be meaningful at all.
Why would you want an alternative for Otto? You like it, or you don't. There's no good reason to treat it like a lump of Play-doh. Multiple spellings for made-up names (and we can all think of several) are one thing; but getting gratuitously kre8iv with a name that has a distinguished pedigree right back to the Middle Ages seems disrespectful.
That said, I would only use Otto for an Old English sheepdog or similar animal - the kind where you only know which end is the front when it moves forward! Otto and Anna. Good reversible names for those dogs.

no thanks
Run me over or I will explode into laughter!
Why? A definite no from me.
*big no*
Um, no. Aside from that they don't even sound the same to me.
as in car?
No. For obvious reasons. They don't even sound the same.
As in automobile?
Auto is a word for car, short from automobile in Croatian and several different languages. And it's short for automatic in English, so a big NO!

Nooo... :(
Too closely associated with the abbreviation of automatic.
Is this a serious question?
No. Why the heck does Otto need an alternate spelling?

Spelling or pronounciation? To me these sound completely different.
Auto doesn't work for me - the kid could get teased over it being short for automatic, or another word for a car.

No. I like the sound of auto, but it really shouldn't be a name. Not a first name at least. Otto is fine, much better than Odo.
