[Opinions] Magdalena
Magdalena is probably my favorite form of Magdalene. I love how it sounds. What do you think of Magdalena? What nickname would you use for it - Maggie, Magda, or Lena?

I like it a lot. It is a very full bodied, rich, elaborate name but it isn't frilly or over the top girly. It has almost a regal sound to it. Well I adore the nickname Maggie but Lena is also a really nice nickname for Magdalena, a little more mature but still appropiate for a little girl. I don't like Magda though. It feels a bit haggard to me.

probably one of my favorite girls names. I prefer Lena or Magda for nns.

It's nice :) but I think prefer Maddalena.

Magdalena has always been in use where I live, and is pronounced maCH-da-LEEuh-na. Its owners inevitably shorten it, Magda, Daleen, Lena and Maggie being popular versions.I'm not a fan. I like Magdalen a lot: shorter, more manageable, looks tidier, better rhythm.

I typically hate 'mag' names, but I find this one extraordinarily pretty! :) I, too, love the way it sounds. The ending 'a' just lifts it up a little and makes it pretty.I would probably use Maggie when she's an infant, and maybe Lena when she's a little older. I would stay away from Magda, because that just seems stuffy and has too much of the 'mag' sound I don't like. Good choice, though! It's so pretty!

I like it! I like Maggie, but I think Magda fits the feel of Magdalena more. I also like Lena, but I prefer that one as a full name.
I also knew an Anna Magdalena who went by Magdalene, so I think it's also possible to manage without a nn. Maybe not as a kid, but after a certain age.
