I tend to say ro WEE na, but I learned how to say it from the movies. I don't think Rowena has a strong connection, but she's on the good side. I think it would be fine.

How is it pronounced in the HP movies?
I take it from your response that they say, "ro-WEE-na." But I'd like to be sure. The movies will influence a whole generation so I'm pretty curious. Thanks.

They don't talk about her much, since the main characters are from (Godric) Griffindor, and some of the secondary characters are from (Salazar) Slytherin. It sounded like ro WEE na to me when McGonnagal talked about the Chamber of Secrets/ history of the founding of the school.
