I've fallen in love with the lush romanticism of Angela. What are your thoughts on the name? Do you think its popularity has diluted this romanticism? I tend to ignore its commonness and focus on the effortlessly elegant Dame Lansbury.

So many pretty combos...I can't choose.
My mom's sister's name is Angela. She was named after their maternal grandmother (my great-grandmother).

Ok, so my thoughts are that Angela is too dated and is not ready for a comeback. Try it as a middle name!

Yay, love for Angela the Dated! I really like it, and nn Angie too.
To me it isn't exactly lushly romantic. Not common, either. To me it just seems conscientious, bright, and strong, sort of like the feminine counterpart of, say, Michael, or Christian.
I like Angela Millicent, Angela Rosamond, and Angela Vivien.

I love Angela! I'm not sure how you feel about nicknames, but one of the reasons I like it so much is because I also love the nickname Angie :-)

I quite like Angela, though I don't get a lot of romantic vibes from it. To me it's one of those pleasantly dated names--that makes me picture a smart, smiling girl in the 80s. Although I also associate it with Angela's Ashes, so that's a different image alltogether, but still one I like.

I really love the feel of the name Angela. It's sweet and feminine but not at all weak. One of my best friends as a child was named Angela so I'm sure that influences my view point. It really doesn't seem that common to me, though looking at the data I can see there was a time period where it was more common.
